Knowing Your Audience with Emily Larkin
Writers are frequently given the advice to appeal to their chosen audience. But what does this really mean? While some writers begin a story with an idea of the age group or gender they are writing for, others create a story, then consider who is most likely to enjoy it and make revisions. Whichever approach you take, it is important to develop an awareness of the interests, conventions and guidelines associated with different readerships – to ensure that your work not only reaches readers, but connects with them.
